  1. hi ive just got a pioneer a04 and was wandering if when makeing a DVD do u have to put menus in or can u just put the film on and it starts as soon as u play the DVD ??? any help

    You don't need any menus, but you have to author(make the dvd structure) it with some tool and in the author tool you just add the video as the "first play".

    Unfortunately there are no freeware DVD authoring programs out there but some of the best retail ones are:

    * Ulead DVD Movie Factory (VERY easy to use & inexpensive)
    * Sonic DVDit PE (more powerful; comes in 3 different versions)
    * Roxio VideoPack 5 (powerful but difficult to use)
    * Pinnacle Impression DVD Pro (rocks)

  5. what kind of software is used to create those cool dvds that are sold commercially with the different sections like "Play Movie", "Chapter Selection, "Various Extras"?

    I dont mind using the scene selection but I dont want it to be the first thing that pops up when you put the dvd in. i would prefer the chapter selection to be available under the corresponding menu.

    scenarist is one. take a look at doom9.org. there are some guides.
