Sorry, new to here, but I have a question. I have a couple of .VOB music files I want to convert to MP4 format, the actual conversion takes place fine but when I try to play the file in Quicktime player, the video is excellent, but always a terrible hissing sound in the video. The hissing sound is through the entire video.
Could someone please help and let me know what I am doing wrong please.

Want to be able to convert these files so I can play on an iPod video player. Tried converting the .VOB files to any of the iPod options available, but when I try to do that, after I select the file, the iPod options(s) and click encode, it encodes in no time flat, like 1 second, but those file sizes are always 4kb only.

    Thanks for any help.

VOB files probably have AC3 audio so you might need the AC3 codec. You should be able to find it here:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/qtac3codec/

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the help but did not work. Not sure what is going on, even tried playing in VLC and still the same terrible static sound, I did go to the link suggested and downloaded the AC3 codec for Quicktime but unfortunately, still the same issue.

    Thanks for the help though.

Does the VOB play in VLC okay? You may need to to demux the streams, convert the audio to something "QuickTime-ish" and then recombine them in QT Player Pro before presenting it to ffmpegX (or MPEG Streamclip).

You might be able to get VLC export the audio for you.

Yes, the .vob video plays great, in VLC, just was trying to convert the file so my wife could have it on her iPod video player. Just a quick note, did try converting another .vob file and it converted it just fine, no hissing sound on the audio what so ever. So not sure why it would convert one file fine and not the other. Sorry, really, really new at this.

    Thanks

The VOB apparently contains some other audio format for which you do not have the codec. If you open it in VLC and check the file info for it there, it may tell you what format is being used.

Ok, I think I may have finally found out some relevant information. The .vob files that I have been trying to convert so my wife can have them on her iPod video, the audio is in this format: dvdpcm, 48000Hz, 2304 kbps
Could someone please tell me if I need a codec for FfmpegX to get it to convert to an iPod video?

Again, to all that have taken their time to try to help me resolve this issue, your help is much appreciated.

    Thanks
