I've had some problems with this thing, but have converted about 50 VHS movies to DVD over the past three years. Sometimes, when i least expect it, a problem comes along. The latest problem i am having is the color of the video is going bright and dull, bright and dull, over and over. I've had this problem before, and fixed it by doing the following:
Defragging the hard drives.
Running anti-spyware/adware and anti-virus software, removing any threats that i've come across.
The last thing i've done is closed any software running in the windows taskbar.
Usually doing all this would result in a pretty nice capture, with NO problems. Unfortunately, i'm still getting the color fluctuating.
My question is this. Would one of those somewhat expensive gold-plated video cables be better to use than the standard ones that came with the unit? Would that improve things? Can someone suggest something that may help? I'd appreciate it!

Adstech DVD Xpress takes out ALL copy protection. You can copy ANY VHS movie with it with ZERO macrovision protection. Besides, the movie in question was capturing fine on one of my other computers. Unfortunately, the video card in it sucks and i need a new DVD compliant one, but there was ZERO fluctuations in the color.Originally Posted by guns1inger
I do have a theory, after reading up on capturing. The computer with the color problem has a mobo with the VIA chipset, which has issues with capturing. The computer with the bad video card has a mobo with NVIDIA chipset. I think that's my problem, or related to it. -
why should that be a problem, those chips sets control what is being displayed and have nothing to do with the mpeg signal coming from
the dvdxpress,
have you checked the actual files coping them to a data disc or portable external drive and playing the mpegs on another PC ?
