I can't capture anything with PPro 1.5.
When I'm plugging in the firewire cable in the computer and my camcorder everything seems to work fine; Windows recognizes the camera, so I'd assume everything is properly connected. The Problem is that when I'm trying to capture in PPro there's no picture from the camera in the capture screen though I can control the camera through Premiere. I have just formatted my harddisk and reinstalled windows in order to fix this problem as I thought it might be because I have had the XP Codec Pack installed. But formatting did'nt help. I still don't get any picture in PPro.
I have also tried to capture in MovieMaker but that's not possible either. In MovieMaker a error message appears saying "Unknown error occurred" or something like that.
After formatting I haven't downloaded any codecs or anything. I just have the codecs that comes with MediaPlayer I guess.
My camera is a JVC GR-D270E and I use a firewire cable with small heads in both ends if that has anything to say!? I'm using my laptop LG F1 - 22PTV3 which I recently bought, but I have not yet tried to edit on it because of this problem. On my stationery PC everything works fine but in that case I also use another firewire cable with a big and a small head.
Anybody who knows what might cause this problem? - 'cause this is really starting to piss me off![]()
regards,
Aske

Hmm see if you can install the MainConcept DV Codec. (probably not the best but first one I found)
WinDV Program. WinDV Guide (probably also on this site). -

Sometimes I notice Premiere or Vegas black screens. The cause is usually another application has the IEEE-1394 port or XP thinks the other app is still active. A reboot usually solves that mix up.
Try WinDV. It seems less likely to have these issues.
