    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how to burn a 1080i file onto an 8.5GB disc. As is I have 3 seperate clips, 2 of which are rather large (around 4.5GB) and the other a smaller one around 1 GB. My first thought was to just cross my fingers and hope Nero can deal with it. Since all files are ".ts" I just thought I could use Nero Vision 4 and throw them on a DVD. But when I do it says that my 1080i file has is only 720x480. I don't know much about hd burning but that doesn't seem right. I would prefer not to waste the DL DVD disc as they aren't cheap. What is the easiest way to ensure HD quality? How should I go about burning my video clips? Any suggestions, direction or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can't burn as dvd-video if you want hd quality. I would just burn as data and get a dvd player / htpc that reads ts files.

Burn your two large approx. 4.5 GB files (they better not be bigger than this or it won't work) to separate DVD discs and burn the small file to a 3rd DVD disc. I did something like this last year with some World Cup recordings I made. Maybe in another year or two or three I'll be able to make a proper DVD in some high def format with them. The capacity of dual layer discs is really about 8.5 GB, so you're not going to be able to fit all your video on one dual layer disc. Yes, that's right, one dual layer disc is smaller than 2 single layer DVDs. Burn your files as data discs and do NOT let Nero convert them to DVD. Use Nero Express or Nero Burning ROM and do NOT use Nero Vision!

About your question if you want HD content on DVD you need to find software which would author and burn such a disc. And this is not all - you need to playback it as such.
