  1. Hi, guys,

Iīve been salvaging my old VHS tapes and saving them into the computer for a while now.
And I have discovered that some are in worst shape than I had imagined.
    Awful image, noisy soundtracks.
Iīve learned to live with the bad image somehow but the noise really gets to me.
That hideous "-Fshhhhhh" in the background... arrgh!

So I wa wondering... do you know of any software that allows you to remove the audio noise off of avi files?
"They say that if you play the Windows CD backward you can hear satanic speech; well, thatīs nothing.
When you play it forward, it installs windows."

I usually use Audacity to remove background noise, though there may be better tools out there. You'll have to demux the audio from your video first and depending on how much noise needs to be removed, your final soundtrack may sound a little bit 'watery'. Like I said though, there may be better or easier-to-use tools out there.

If you do not mind to spend some cash, than get TMPGEn Xpress.
That one has lots of filters for video and audio to improve your VHS files and export to DVD format. I use it with my VHS tapes.
On top if you want to make Pro DVD than may be together with TMPGEnc DVD Author.
