Hi,
Please help I am new to this and am not very computer literate. I have transfered some video from my camcorder to my PC and have used Windows Movie Maker to capture it and burn it to a DVD-R. It plays fine on my PC but it won,t play on my DVD player connected to the TV. I think it something to do with the Format being wrong. Could someone please explain in simple terms what I have to do to burn a DVD that I can watch on my TV. Do I have to convert the file somehow before I burn it to DVD. My daughter also stored some video from her digital camera to DVD and that wont play on the TV either. HELP!!!!

You have to author the video files to DVD files(IFO,BUP,VOB),use TDA or Ulead Videostudio.

if you did a drag & drop copy to the disc window, you have a DVD 'data' disc not a DVD movie disc
WMM will create DVD compliant mpeg2 files
but it usually just saves the folders on the HD and you need to use an authoring program to create DVD fliesvand burn the DVD in the correct format
also many players prefer +R over -R discs
what program did you use to burn the disc
did you burn the captured MPEG files ( data disc ) or did you author a DVD ? -
Windows Movie Maker (WMM) does not make compliant DVD files. It saves as either Windows Media Video (WMV) or DV-avi. From here you have to encode the files to mpeg-2 and suitable audio, and author as a DVD.
If you are running Vista and Windows DVD Maker then it is a different story.Read my blog here.
