I'm new to the forum, and not sure if this is the right place to ask, but Since it say newbie section i figure it couldn't hurt.

I starting to download video files with the AC3 5.1 surround sound files, for tv shows... and the video plays out great, but the Audio quailty is really low, i was wondering what is the best/ easiest way to normalize these files to play at a normal sound range, and not where i have to blast my speakers when listening.

    Thank you

Windows Media Player cannot decode AC3 on it's own, so you must have installed a third party decoder at some point. This could be something like AC3 filter or ffdshow, or a full suite like PowerDVD. AC3filter has it's own normalisation and gain controls which can be used to make the volume louder without having to alter the original audio.

Otherwise, try something like VLC,which has it's own built-in decoders.
