Hi. My problem is this: I have some video captures made from HyperCam 2.0 that are laggy. THe playback isn't lagging, it's the actual movie - many frames in a row are exactly the same. Sometimes for many seconds at a time.

It isn't a problem in the capturing. That's what's really happening on my screen as I'm recording. So is there an editing program out there with some sort of feature to reduce or eliminate lag that is encoded into the video?

You can only record what is available, if for example you're are recording from a web cam and it only ouputs X amount of frames that is the best you can expect. To avoid the additional frames find out what the source is and set the capture settings appropriately, that's assuming that whatever you are capturing is giving you a steady framerate.

For your current captures you can , load the file into virtualdub and adjust the framerate under the video settings. This will work quite nicely if the frames are consistent such as you a have a 30fps video and 3 frmaes in a row are identical, simply set the framerate to 10FPS and save the file.

If you're getting inconsistent random duplicate frames such as 2 in a row, 5 in a row, 3 in row, 10 in row etc there is no way to fix the captures short of going through it manually and deleting the duplicate frames. The only thing that will fix that is adjusting the source (your webcam) so they are not produced to begin with,

Bingo. The source is actually lagging, and there isn't really anything I can do about it.
