    Hi All,
I'm new to this so bare with me. Ok, here is my problem.. When I burn a movie on to a DVD-R Disc the Movie does not run smoothly. Every 1 second frame it keeps stopping a fraction then starting it does this throughout the whole movie. Its a huge put off. The disc runs, but the image stops a quick second then starts, then stops a quick second and so on... I'm using Nero 7 Ultra Edition. What the heck is causing it? It still does it when all programs have been shut down.
    Any help would be grateful.

Depends where your coming from ... we know where you going too .

If dvd rip - use imgburn

If video converted to dvd output ... it may be the program that dose the conversion , causing issue .
Nero has a bad habit of re-encoding already complaint file's and generating screwup's .

Dvd-r ... still could be junk ... just because the pc burner had no issue , dosent mean the home player dosent ... what brand's have you tried ?
In this case , try cleaning the home player , and burn media at half max or 4x only , and no more than 4.3gig ... see how it run's .

    -------------

The remaining issue still evolves around the input type ... what and where they came from ... once known ... the rest is easy .

Sounds like a bad NTSC/PAL conversion problem to me...

It sounds like a very poor conversion (and if you are using Nero, that is what you will get) from NTSC 23.976 fps to PAL 25 fps, where the encoder is duplicating 1 frame in every 25, causing a slight judder once a second.

There is a very good chance your player will playback NTSC, so don't convert between formats.

Also, as suggested, make sure you are using good quality media, not cheap crap.

Your writer could be one of those which is picky about media. It may not like the brand you are using. Check for firmware updates.

  6. I had this problem with DVD-RW discs. Played fine in my Apex player but in a PS2 and another DVD player would freeze every few seconds. Try changing your media (pay a little extra for good discs) or getting a firmware update as mentioned above.

    Hi All,
Thanx for the prompt reply. As for the Nero Ultra Firmware, the last updated firmware was put in December 2006. (Well thats when i got Nero Ultra anyway)
I have tried burning at a lower speed (takes a bit longer like but hey...) but still same result. It takes 2hrs 25min to do a normal DVD. Can anyone recommend a Good DVD burner application program? I will try a different program. See if that makes any difference. In the mean time i will change the DVD-R discs for a different type. Any recommendations on which popular brand/make? Believe it or not i'm only just learning how to create dvd's. lol!!!
    Cheers

    What is your source material?
I really doubt this is a problem of the actual burning process - it's in the conversion of your source to Video DVD format.
Load your source file in GSpot and post a screen shot.
If you have no clue, and are not willing to read the guides found under convert left, for "??? to DVD" I think your best bet is to try convertx2dvd. Handles most source files fine.

The firmware is the information in your drive which tells it how to burn different media. Nero Ultra does not update the firmware in your drive.

You will need to contact the manufacturer of your DVDwriter or check his website to determine what the latest version of firmware for your drive is. Nero Infotool can tell you what revision of the firmware is actually in your drive. If your version is not the latest you will need to download the updated version.

The DVD-r and DVD+R specifications allow significant flexibility in the manufacture of blank media. Drive manufacturers have the responsibility to adapt to the appropriate method of burning required for the particular media identified by a media-code. If the firmware for your drive does not contain the correct information for the media you are burning you may get failures or marginal results because it will try to burn with its default strategy.

Some manufacturer's update their firmware regularly to allow for new media which have come on the market, others are quite poor at updating.

Drive owners with out of date firmware often have poor results with media which perform well for other users.

You are seeing a CONVERSION not BURNING problem
the field order of the material is the first I would suspect
