When I import a mpeg2 video into Premire it plays back really jerky. The file plays fine outside of premire.
Any suggestions?

Plays jerky in the premiere preview or after you exported?

If I open in the source monitor it looks fine.
Playing in the preview monitor and any exported video is choppy / jerky
It only happens with MPEG files AVI files play fine. -
Premiere hates MPEG files. I've never gotten it to handle them well. Just use VdubMPEG2 and convert your MPEG2 source to the lossless HuffYUV format. Then that'll work fine in Premiere. Of course if your video is long it'll take a lot of space.
Or you could try the Premiere plugin on the site below, that allows frameserving from Avisynth or Vdub into Premiere.
