Problem to convert MOV to AVI in QuickTime Pro 6.1: I tried export (convert) MOV(18MB) to AVI, and got just 253KB AVI file in output. I even can no play it. What Export options(quality) should be selected? I used default (medium), should I use 'high' or 'best'?

Regardless of which options you choose, the file should be playable. It should also be much larger after your save it. Sounds like the file is corrupted somehow or QT is having issues.

well, I repeat the procedure, and set compression 'None', quality - 'best' and colors -'million', resulting avi file is 1.9GB.. Does anybody know, what is right settings for Export 'Options', specifically for compression, colors and quality? How many colors set? ('millions', '256'..) WMP cannot play the resulting file, though AVI file format is supported by Windows Media Player.

The QT default options always seemed goofy to me. Use these:
[Export]- Movie to AVI
[Settings]
Video- Compression Type
--DV/DVCPro-NTSC (assuming you have NTSC)
--None (choose 1 or the other)
FramesPerSecond
--(same as original, 29.97?)
KeyframeEvery
--30 frames
DataRateLimit
--(unchecked)
ColorDepth
--"Millions of Colors"
Quality slider
--"Best" (100% to right)
...in some versions of QT there are also options for DV...
ScanMode
--Interlaced
AspectRatio
--4:3
- CompressionType
--None
SampleRate
--48kHz
SampleSize
--16bit
ChannelUse
--Stereo
at DV settings, you should be using up ~13GB/hour of footage.

Just forgot to specify: that is just video course mov, and it have the following parameters(from Movie info):
Format: Sorenson Video 3,640 x 480, Millions+
MPEG Layer-3 Audio, Stereo, 22.05 kHz, 16 bits.
Movue FPS: 1.99
Data size: 17.6MB
Data rate: 16.0 K bytes/sec
Normal size: 640 x 480
when I converted it with Compression 'None' and abovementioned parameters, I got 2.66GB file. I can play this file on WMP10, but is there way compress it during converting? -
Looking at your movie specs...
#1 You realize don't you, that 128kbps (aka 16kBps) is awfully low for AUDIO + VIDEO. Something's going to be bad quality (probably both).
#2 At 1.99FPS (probably should be 2 FPS), this must be like a SLIDESHOW of still pix!?
#3 Your OP stated you couldn't play the file. Now you say you can. Problem solved. Sounds like you're now adding to your original request--you want to convert to something else (smaller?). Now that you've got a playable AVI, all the usual AVI tools mentioned here <-- (Tools) are available for your use.
#4 You need to now decide what you want to end up with. What do you want to be able to do with this file?
