    Hello,

I just installed my XFI Soundblaster Xtreme Music card into my Dell 8300 the other day and tried to record a tv program using my ATI All in Wonder 9000 card as I used to do without difficulty with my Soundblaster Live 5.1! card.

The video recorded fine, however, the audio didn't record. I had sound while watching the program that I was recording but upon playback the audio didn't exist.

I connected the ATI AIW card line out into the 'Line In' on the XFI card and the volume appeared to be fine, but again upon playback nothing.

I've played video clips that I've recorded previously with my Soundblaster Live! card and they play back fine, both video and audio. Is there anyone that can help me with this one?

I've been trying everything but no avail!!!

    Thanks,

    Rich

I use a Live! 5.1 Platinum with an AIW Radeon 7500 and initially I had a similar problem. It turned out that I would select the correct audio input to record from but as soon as I closed the mixer it would revert to the previous setting. The work around was to open the mixer, select the correct input and then minimise the mixer before opening MMC to capture.

The problem was finally cured when I did a format and complete re-install (something I do every year or so or after replacing any hardware).

Thanks for the tip Richard, I will try that. One of my problems could be that I have so many audio programs... ie Audacity, Creative XFI, all of which want to have control over my audio settings on the computer. The problem though I believe lies in the XFI extreme music card though because when I have just the Soundblaster Live! card - I basically had the same setup and didn't have the same problem I have now.

I am going to continue to try to work around this, I'll keep you posted!

    Thanks,

    Rich
