There are plenty of guides here that I have read but my question is regarding the converted output file.
I have a .wmv file that is 24min duration and 58Mb. I want to convert it to .avi and I did this with Power Video Converter. The resultant .avi turned out to be 5.4Gb (aspect 320 x 240 and audio 44100 @ 320kb/s 2ch).
This is larger than a standard dvd and only 1/2 hr video!!!! Does this happen with all conversions like this ( I've never done any before).
I want to get a few of these avi's and put them on a dvd with individual menu selections, so should I be using something else? Can someone advise which programs to use to achieve my compiled dvd please?

Only if done with crap software and poor settings. I can think of only two things that would cause a result like this. The first a stupidly high bitrate, which is unlikely. The second, is that the WMV has variable framerate, and your software simply isn't up to the task of handling wmv files correctly.Does this happen with all conversions like this
I would give ConvertXtoDVD a tryRead my blog here.
