Help! I have a dvdr70/051 (netherlands) philips dvd recorder. The timer is not working anymore. I checked that the date of the dvd player is set right; I have programmed the timer details properly (its been working for years.) it says Timer on the display, but its not activating. Say I program it for 5:30. 5:30 goes by and the timer is not triggered. The disk type is fine; if i press record, it records. Its the timer trigger! Have you encountered this sort of problem before? I'm very frustrated. Nikki

Sounds like a faulty player. Assuming you have it configured correctly as you stated above, then it is time to put it into a repair shop or get another one.

I'm unsure what standby mode is.
I have solved the problem though: I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Totally riduculous, but worked.
