I am using the Create DVD button in the latest version of Gui for DVDAuthor, and I have 4 m2v/ac3 files that I am including in this project (output from VideoReDo based on VOBs from TV episodes copied by my Lite-On DVD Recorder). The total size is over 1GB, so GFD is trying to split the resultant VOB files. However, I am getting the following error on the split:

"Need to split output but there appears to be no %d in the filename pattern <filename>"

And then the Create DVD stops.

I have tried multiple attempts at using QuickStream Fix in VideoReDo, but to no avail. When I make the individual video files MPEG format, GFD will not read them, so I can't go that route either (unless again I am making some mistake in VideoReDo).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. This 'strange' error message:
"Need to split output but there appears to be no %d in the filename pattern <filename>"

has been encountered some times, but nobody could really find the underlying problem. It seems to be some error in the audio file(s) which causes mplex to crash. Try the 'vob' type output in VRD and rename the vob to mpg. Another possibility is to use a separate multiplexer (imago, bbmpeg) first and import the mpg file in GfD.
Or try the new GfD development version and use MuxMan as authoring engine:

    Borax,

You are beautiful, man. I ran the offending m2v/ac3 through MuxMan, changed the extension on the resulting file from .VOB to .mpg, and then used that video in my DVD project in GFD in place of the offender. Results came out perfect (so far as I can tell).

The strange thing is that the error occurred only on that one video (the other 11 episode videos were fine, but I created them in exactly the same way), so it must just be some weird glitch that creeps into the VideoReDo editing process occasionally???

One other thing: I installed the GFD Development Version update, but in that version, the Create DVD button in the Final Section is disabled. Does it sound like I installed it incorrectly? Or is that what you would expect at this point in development?

    Thanks again!

  4. Congratulation to your success!
so it must just be some weird glitch that creeps into the VideoReDo editing process occasionally???
It could also be some weird bits in either the video or the audio itself which are not even touched by VRD.
I installed the GFD Development Version update
How? You have to 'overwrite' all the 'old' files (standard 0.99 version) with the new ones. If you use different folders, it doesn't work. If you want to keep the 'old' version too, rename the 'GUI_DVDauthor.exe' to something like 'GUI_DVDauthor_old.exe'. It's a 'fully' functional version...

Sorry, poor choice of words on my part. I copied the update files into the GUI_DVDauthor_01Pic folder, and renamed the previous exe file so I could run either one. When I run the new development version exe file, my Create DVD button is disabled. If I run the old exe file (for the prior version), everything looks fine. It doesn't bother me, because I used the MuxMan'd video in the old version of GFD, and everything worked fine, I was just curious if this were something you might want to look into or not.

  6. Not the GUI_DVDauthor_01Pic folder, but the '...\GUI for dvdauthor' folder itself (one level higher than the GUI_DVDauthor_01Pic folder) must be used.
