cannot play DVD-RW movie on DVD-ROM?

I have a Magnavox MWR10D6 dvd burner for my TV....I've been burning to DVD-RW and I do make sure to finalize the disc after...however, I cannot play this in my DVD-ROM, I can play it in the Magnavox, and I can also play it in my Symphonic DVD player on my other TV. I can play DVDs in my DVD-ROM and everything runs fine. Just for some reason I can't play it in my DVD-ROM...did I do something wrong when burning, its pretty straight forward I think..? Or does my drive just not support DVD-RW cds? I do not have a DVD-R to test out if those work...

If I go to My Computer and click on the drive it tells me there is no disc in it, and if I try opening Windows Media and picking the DVD Drive it tells me it cannot play the video because it doesn't have the right codec...well it did last night, now when I go into it, it tells me there is no disc

Some older DVD-ROM do not play disk that do have the book type set to DVD-ROM.

Since the book type for DVD-R or DVD-RW cannot be change, a firmware upgrade may be the only fix.

For example my old Toshiba SD-W2002 will not play DVD+R DL, unless its book type is set to DVD-ROM.

I don't understand what you mean by "book type" at all. lol, but I will try and see if there is a firmware upgrade for my DVD-ROM

Dude, I had the very same problem, this may help. Keep in mind... if all else fails READ THE BOOK!
lmao, it's was such a brain dead idea I over looked something in the how to use guide.
FINALIZE the disc . yup, all of asudden everything could read the disc. even the computer, and the format is MPEG so once I started finalizing the disc's WALA no more problems.

I hope this helps you, it certainly solved all my probems.
