Can I convert a VOB file to burn to a DVD format so I can play it on my DVD player?

Author it with for example tda. Or use free tools like dvdauthorgui, muxman.

Er... VOB files are DVD format, by definition. If you've got a set of VOBs and IFOs, you've already got an authored project; all that needs to be done is to burn them to DVD. (Unless they're a rip from a dual-layer disc and thus too large to fit on a single-layer DVD, in which case you use something like DVDShrink to transcode them down to size.)
If you've got VOBs, but no IFOs, then... that would be a bit odd, to say the least. Where did these files come from, exactly? -
I just search around the web and tested a few VOB, it's actually the first time I've heard of this extension. Been away from video for awhile.

Unless you happen to own a Philips DVD-642 it can play vob files without authoring. There are other players that say they can play mpg files and I would suspect if they can do that then they can probably play vob out of the box.Originally Posted by SingSing
I'm not saying you should do it since it's so easy to do a simple authoring which will make it compatible with all modern players but it is possible if you happen to own the right player.
