I'm looking for an authoring application to recommend to a friend who is fairly novice. As such the fewer buttons/menus/features the better off he'll be.
He's running Windows XP and want's to make movie-only burns of his NTSC TV captures which are 720x480 MPEG-2 29.97 fps and have MPEG Layer-2 audio. His captures already have commercials removed and chapter marks added using VideoRedo.
Ideally the software would additionally import DivX (he has a few shows he's converted to this format to save space) but this isn't a deal-breaker. Another nice feature is if it could author the movie without re-encoding (if his mpegs are already DVD-complient). If it has to recompress the video it would be nice to have some noise filters - some of his TV channels have some snow. Transcoding and burning aren't really necessary though as this can be done with DVDShrink and ImgBurn.
So it basically comes down to what programs do you recommend that are easy to use and can author a DVD without menus?

For Divx I would suggest the freeware DivxtoDVD, or it's payware big brother, ConvertXtoDVD. Simple, fast and reliable.
For his TV captures, GUIForDVDAuthor would be a good choice. It is free, so giving it a try costs nothing but a little time.Read my blog here.
