Audio sync out on dvd player but on on pc

Sorry i'm a newbie (obviously)

i've been madly converting divx's etc to mpeg1 to burn to vcd when i found out my dvd player plays them .. but for some reason the audio and video is out of sync on the dvd player but not on my pc .. but when i make a svcd its all fine .. is there some way to correct it? or do i have to live with it? its only a diamond dvd-101d player

first of all the subject was meant to read `Audio sync out on dvd player but not on pc'

and urmm .. i'm using nero 5.5.7.2 .. also the cd after it is burnt played fine on my pc .. the audio matches up perfect .. its just when its in the dvd player it is out .. it is constantly out .. from start to finish about the same .. like maybe .5-1 seconds .. its noticable anyway ...
