ok, well i have this little video clip that i want to capture the first 4 seconds of this video clip..

the way i want this done is by having some kind of program that will take like 4-5 screenshots a second, and save them all in my documents or my pictures or somewhere like that...

does anyone know of a program that i can do this, or similar to this...

    thanx

What kind of video clip ?
    avi, mpeg ?

VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod will let you crop a vid to the length you want then save each frame from start to finish i believe as bmp's.
Been awhile since i did it but i remember doing it before.

    Virtualdub - save bmp.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

virtualdub will allow you to select a segment of video and it will automatically make a .bmp of each frame when you tell it to do so. You can take each nth frame and make whatever you're wanting.

If it is streaming video, look at the screen capture section of the Tool area for likely candidates

it is an AVI file, i downloaded Virtualdub and i tryed to open the clip in it, but it says

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format "XVID" (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a video for windows (VFW) Compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs such as those used by Windows Media PLayer, are not suitable."

any ideals which codec to download?

Is a bit of a giveaway. It is telling you that you do not have a vfw compatible version of the Xvid codec.
