    Newbie here,

    pc: Vista, intel P4 3GHz 2gb ram

I converted a couple of my movies using the autogk application using the divx codec, so I could stream them and watch them on my Xbox360. Everything worked great with the conversion, but when I stream the movie from my pc to the 360 during the play back it will hang for a couple of seconds. I have a wired connection to the xbox. I even put the file onto a portable hard drive and connected that to the 360 and it would also hang. Granted that hard drive is a very old 200gb and that could be the problem with that.

Thanks for any help or suggestion

What output settings are you using? video frame size/resolution? audio codec?

And maybe try tversity to stream to your xbox.

I pretty much set the quality to 100% leave the frame size to auto as well as the audio so it takes the AC3. I have the ac3filter for the audio. Is there something in there that could possibly be causing this? I tried tversity, and I could stream my music fine but it just wouldn't work for the video, plus I just didn't like it.

Do you mean "hang" as in it pauses every few seconds/minutes or does it just not start immediately? Pausing during playback could be an indication that you are using bitrates higher than the xbox supports, which basically means you are trying to read/playback data faster than the xbox is capable. A pause or delay when starting the file is caused by the xbox buffering the video (portion of the video) before playback starts.

The fact that you have issues over LAN and USB, would seem to indicate the first problem. In which case you need to make your file specs match what the xbox supports.

The movie will start off fine then after about 5 to 10 minutes of play it will pause for a second then continue on. I don't seem to see a way in autogk to change any bitrates. Is there a guide out there for how to use autogk to convert a file for the xbox?

Sounds like it is having trouble streaming from the PC. Could be an issue with the PC, such as a heavily fragmented HDD or the PC is busy doing something else and can't serve the file fast enough. Watch the cpu, process, and network stats on the PC while streaming a file. High cpu would indicate the PC is busy performing another function. The process tab will show which process(s) are running and how much cpu time they are using. The network tab will show the network usage. If any of these are high, that could be causing your issue.
