i thought ac3 was only for doby digital surround... not everyone has DDS do they?
im making a dvd for a bunch of people and i need to know for sure which one is going to be more reliable, as in, which one is going to work on more peoples DVD players?

AC3 Dolby would likely be the most compatible. 2 channel is probably the best for home use. 5.1 AC3 is what a lot of DVDs use.

AC3 is globally compatible because a)support for it is mandatory within the specification, and b) it is downmixed to stereo output throught eh RCA jacks on every player. If they don't have an AC3 decoding amp, then they will be using the stereo outputs to hear AC3 audio anyway.
