  1. I've put a 300 photo slideshow together which I want to play from start to finish. Each photo displays for 5 secs. I also want to add a menu so that you can go to any photo, watch it for 30 secs, and then return to that menu. BUT what's the best way to do this? I thought about using chapter points in the current slideshow, but that means the photo will only display for 5 secs. I thought about creating 300 mini-movies, but I'm using DVD Lab 1.0 which will only allow 99 movies. My only best guess is to create another slideshow and set each image to 30 secs and then linking the menu to this second slideshow. Or is there a better way? I'm using Vegas and DVD Lab Pro 1. Thanks for any ideas!

Yes, I'd do it like your idea - 2 different movies, one with 5 sec between pics, one with 30 sec between. You'd get 3 hours of pics/video which ought to work in good quality as we're dealing with stills.

It might be possible to solve in DVD-Lab using a playlists, but I've never tried it. (I imagine the "single pic" playlist would play one chapter/pic, "pause" for 25 sec (while keeping the last frame visible-not sure that this part works) then return to the chapter/pic menu)

Playlists don't alter/control the runtime, so I don't think they would help.

At a combined runtime of almost 3 hours, I would avoid transitions between pics if possible. Especially cross fades or fades to black and back, as these are very bitrate intensive.

Something to try when you are creating this beast. As you are using Vegas, you might be able to save yourself some time by creating the 30 second per image version first, then using a velocity envelope to produce the 5 second per image version. This would save you having to alter each frame. Maybe try it with a 20 image version to see if it work.
