Not if you want subs. If you want to author a DVD with subtitles, don't use rubbish like DVD Santa to create the assets. TDA will import the video and allow you to create a menu, but again, you will lose the subs.

You can probably create menus in DLP that point to small empty assets, then use something like PGCEdit to link everything back together again.

My nick comes from two much older sources - the Yul Brynner character in West World, and Roland from Stephen King's Gunslinger series of books.

DVD Santa, like all one-click-wonders (including my fav, ConvertXtoDVD) is a simple beast. It has limited capabilities when it comes to true DVD authoring. You either take what it gives you, or you find a better way.

Authoring tools that can do the type of authoring you want require that you properly prepare assets, not try to use the results of what is essentially a cheap and nasty encode.

If you want to use DVD Lab Pro to create a menu for this, you should

    1. Demux the audio and video from what DVD Santa has produced.

    2. Locate the subtitles file that you loaded into DVD Santa. .srt is a good format for DLP, but it will use others. Consult your manual for a full list.

    3. Create a new project in DLP and import your video and audio assets, add your subtitles, and create appropriate menus.

In the longer term, look at getting a better encoder and simply prep your assets seperately so you don't have to go through the demuxing step.

If the subtitles are burned into the avi then you cant switch them anyway. If they are not, where are you getting them from ?

Are the subs burned into the original avi files ? Most fansub anime have the subtitles embedded as part of the image, not as seperate streams. They cannot be turned off or easily removed.

There is also a good chance that they are positioned wrongly on the screen, and wehn you get around to playing them in your DVD player, you will find they are vut off either at the bottom or the edges. DVD Santa cannot fix this problem. If you do find this when testing, search the forums for Overscan and FitCD for the solution.
