  1. I have a Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 that records AVCHD .m2ts files and is capable of xv color. My question is Is there any software out there that I can work with that can preserve the rich xv color?

there's nothing special about that cam. it records to normal HD: MPEG4 AVC/H.264 or SD: MPEG. so the answer is any software can.

  3. Normally the chroma channels in video have values that range from 16 to 240. They are saved as 8 bit values which can hold from 0 to 255. xvYCC uses the available values outside the 16-240 range (ie, 0-15 and 236-255). You just have to be sure the editor doesn't clamp the chroma channels to the 16-235 range if you reencode.
