    Hi,

I have a movie as an AVI file. The sound of the movie is not synchronized when playing back with Nero Showcase or Win Media Player. But when tried to play the same movie in VirtualDub, the sound is perfectly well synchronized.

I tried to make a copy through VirtualDub but the sound is still the same.

Is there a way to fix the problem?

    Thank you!

I would not class WMP or NeroShowcase as good players. How does it look/sound when played back through VLC or MPC ?

Honestly, I even never heard about such players. Sorry for the ignorance.

Do you mean that if played OK with one of the mentioned, they will be played fine after burning?

    Thank you!

What do you want to do with the file ?
Are you converting it to DVD, or do you want to play it back on a Divx certified player ?

The problem will most likely be VBR MP3 audio. There are plenty of posts regarding the issues this can cause.

If you are converting to DVD ConvertXtoDVD is the simplest, most reliable solution for little effort.

If you want to be sure, then search the forums for VBR MP3 and Sync, and you will get plenty of posts telling you how to convert the video and audio seperately, then author them back together again.

If you just want to watch it on a certified player, chances are it will be fine, but test it with an RW to be sure.

Thank you very much for your advice.

I tried MPC and the sound is fine. A few others that I was going to dump for the same reason are also fine.

The plan is just to put the movies on DVD disk and watch on a certified player like Philips.

Could you please advise whether there will be loss of pictuire quality if an AVI movie is converted to DVD with ConverttoDVD?

If the picture quality is the main creteria, what program would be better to use - ConverttoDVD or Procoder 2?

    Thank you!

If the plan is play it back on a Divx certified player, why convert it to DVD ?

Start by buying a CD-RW or DVD-RW and burning the avi as is to this disc. Make sure you create a data disc with your burning software. Try playing this back on your player to see how it goes.

Sorry for not quite clear question.

The question about converting from AVI to DVD relates to other movies, not to this one.

    Thank you!

If quality is the main criteria, FitCD -> Avisynth (with filters) -> ProCoder2, then author. Audio would have to be encoded seperately if you want AC3.
