vcd1.0 Cd not Playing on LG DVD Player DV172K

I recently purchased LG DVD Player DV172K from singapore. It is not playing VCD1.0 CD. Can any one please help?

This player is more commonly known as the DK172. It does support SVCD and VCD, so either you have a bad disc (or a disc that does not meet VCD spec) or a bad player.

It could be your VCD. Indian VCDs are usually copy protected, which violates VCD standards. It could be that the copy protection has led to the VCD being too far away from VCD standards for your DVD player to play it. Try playing a VCD from Hong Kong or Malaysia if possible because those countries do not copy protect VCDs. That would at least help you to know if your player can play a valid VCD.
