I bought a pack of 50 fuji dvd-r for 5 bucks with 15 bucks rebate at costco..

The thing is, it only plays on certain players.....My 360 wont play the dvd, but my standalone dvd player plays it with no trouble....What gives?

Is it true 360 can only read high quality dvd's?

How do i find out if my dvd disc quality are good or not?

Download a program like DVD Identifier and read the media code of the disc. You can find comparisons to the left in 'DVD Media'. The brand on the disc is no guarantee of who manufactured it. There are also ratings for quality and compatibility you can reference from the media code. You can also check player compatibility to the left under 'DVD Players'.

You can also go to lordsmurf's site for good media information: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Find out the media code and take a look at http://www.nomorecoasters.com and https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia .
    If in doubt, Google it.

I have found Fuji to be excellent media, both DVD+R and DVD-R. Of course, as another poster said, brand name is no guarantee of quality, and many brand labels actually source the media from a variety of manufacturers.

Have you tried burning at 4x speed or possibly lower? Some people swear that helps though it's far from a guarantee.

  5. Fuji is good if it is manufactured with TY dye and not a dye like RITEK ect...

For example your gambling if you buy these as they "can't specify which dye type you will receive"
