hey fellas
i've read the sticky to the "my video is upside down"!! thread, unfortunately it didn't really help much.
i guess you will have an inkling of what happened by now, but here's the details anyways:
my computer has been giving me many problems of late, kept rebooting for no good reason. i had to reinstall windows and change the RAM before it finally got working again. i also got a new DVD writer so i could transfer my data from the unstable HD to some DVDs.
here lies the problem: after burning, i realised that some of my videos are playing laterally and vertically inverted when i use Windows Media Player. it seemed OK when i used a generic player like VLC Media Player to play the files. also, it seems that only the DivX encoded files are affected.
additional information: i installed this Nero bundle thingmajig that came along with the DVD writer.
anybody knows what's going on? i don't want to convert the files into another format (i think DivX gives pretty damn good quality), nor am i keen on using VLC in the future.
help would be very much appreciated!!![]()
cheers

have you installed any codec packs to get divx playback? or do you use the official divx codec? if not try install the divx codec.

i downloaded the latest DivX codec package from the main website, but still i get the same thing!
one more thing: i need to reformat my computer. if i burn my avis onto a DVD before i sort this out, is there a chance that the videos will stay *draws a deep breath* upside down?
i doubt the files themselves are screwed up right? it's probably either the media player or the codec that is?
thanks Baldrick for taking the time to answer
