  1. Hello,
I recently bought an official Matrix Infinity, Green Dot Version Mod Chip and successfully installed it in my PAL PS-2 Model 39004 V7 GH-022.

I placed the chip here, on top of that black IC.

I was thinking if it would be better to place the chip on the wide & empty space here:

But, after going through some alternative modding diagrams:
    http://ps2-scene.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11400

I came across 5 other alternative positions (For this specific V7 39004 GH-022 PCB), of various chips (Including the Matrix Infinity):

So, which of these 7 positions (Including mine), allows better airflow, ventilation and will prevent the PCB or Mod Chip from over heating in time?
Should I just leave as it is, or is there a chance of the PCB/mod chip, overheating in time and causing damage?

I have also covered the chip with quite a lot of insulation black duct-tape, as well as all the points where I applied solder on the PCB.
Should I leave the duct-tape, or remove it in case of the components beneath it overheating?

I have to mention that at its current installed position, the PS-2 was easily re-assembled with no problem and the chip does not prevent the case from closing or any other problem what so ever.

Any suggestions or recommendations will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

  3. Do you usually place the chip here:

Or on the other side of the board on the back here:

But, concerning the black insulation duct-tape, which I used to cover the chip with (quite a lot of it too), as well as all the points where I applied solder on the PCB.
Should I leave the duct-tape, or remove it in case of the components beneath it overheating in time?

    Thanks.

I use hot glue to keep the wires in place and use thin electrical tape at the solder points I never put any tape over the chip

  5. Do you need a special heat-gun to heat up and stick the glue?
Can it be easily removed if needed, or does it become rock hard?

    Thanks.

  6. Yes a hot glue gun, they are pretty cheap. Glue pulls off pretty easy if you need to remove it.

Its not really glue in the true sense of the word there is no chemical reaction or adhesion. You are simply melting plastic and letting it cool, this in effect sticks things together.

  7. You can see in this pic that a gluegun has been used to secure the wires.
