hello,
my wife is 8 months pregnant and we got a little heartbeat monitor to listen to the babies heartbeat. It's not a fantastic peice of equipment but we could hear the heartbeat just fine.
here is my question. I decided to make a video and patch in the heartbeat monitor thing..now I'm wanting to edit the audio stream to make the heartbeat clearer and also see if theres a way I can somehow move it into the upper frequency ranges so someone without a sub can actually hear it
any suggestions?

I can't offer any help on your question, but just had to say: What a great little project! And congrats on your imminent arrival...

sorry guys i've been on here long enough to know i should have posted more info. I'm using adobe audition to edit the audio. I basically captured it by connecting my camcorder straight through to the video and capturing as uncompressed .avi/.wav stream...I patched the sound from the heartbeat monitor into my external break-out box for my sound card (sb audigy2 Ex.) and used the audio feed from it rather than the camcorder mic (didn't want to introduce any additional noise).
Anyways..I filtered out the higher frequencies and have a pretty decent heartbeat but I was wondering if there was a way to render harmonics in the upper frequencies to bring the sound out more. I can do a regular pitch shift but i was just wondering if there was any more sophisticated method or filter. I really wish i could use those doppler things they use in the hospitals..the sound they get from those is awesome
anyways..thanks again. -

. I'll just keep tinkering with what i've got.

alright well after a bit of monkeying around i got something i feel is acceptable..i gutted out everything but the lowest frequencies to isolate the heartbeat, then I copied it, raised the pitch while preserving the timing, then did a mix paste over it with the higher frequencies @ 50% volume of the lower. Finally I tweaked it out with a little companding and poof! I'm gonna call it done.
