  1. I created a DVD video (with authored folders) from a DivX file. The DVD playback skips a few frames about ever 1.5 seconds when I use my standalone and Apple's DVD player. The DVD and the .mpg file that results from the conversion plays back fine in VLC.

Any ideas on how to author a compliant file smoothly?

    Thanks,

Is this DivX and DVD NTSC Film framerate (23.976 fps)? Possibly you need to add a 3:2 pulldown, so to tell the player how to playback to NTSC (29.97 fps) devices (tv), without actually changing the framerate.

    - For encoding to DVD mpeg2enc, there is a Set 3:2 checkbox in the Options tab.
    - For encoding to DVD ffmpeg, there is no such checkbox, so you have to use the Pull tool on the m2v file, and then mux.
    - If you don't have the m2v file anymore, you could demux, use the Pull tool, and mux again.

  3. Brilliant! That's it! Thank you

Too bad the mencoder intel is still pretty slow on DVD, would save the additional step.
