How do you remove a 30-story building in the middle of a city? Very carefully.

I saw that no the news the other day, they said something about they charged people to watch it come down, must have been to be up close or something because i'm sure they clear out buildings near by ect. for safety reasons.....

do they ever go wrong?
I can't imagine what would have happened if it had toppled to the side as there were buildinsgs around it also -
yea -- one went wrong about a month ago - i think in Nebraska ..
it didnt fall completely .. and what did fall went the wrong way ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
They do that here in Vegas all the time. They just shut down a section for a period of time. To be close you paya charge, but it's primarily for the use of hardhat, dust coat, ventilation mask, goggles, & liability clause.
They purposefully make some of them lean to a small angle, though I'm not sure why, but it may have something to do with causing certain supports to collapse properly. The building naturally wants to collapse flat. The demolition crew usually wants it to collapse inward on itself or in a direction to make sure the supports collapse completely. You may blow a support and it just drops down 10 feet still standing. I wouldn't want to try and get anywhere near it if it got stuck standing like that. -

See, the building wanted to collapse back towards it's flat center and stood up. poor job. It started leaning properly though. The base blow outs probably didn't ignite properly.

yea --- and now what to do ?
