I had a friend I found on teh internet send me an extremely easy and good program for transferring the aac audio to ac3 5.1 so i can keep the 5.1 sound from quicktime movie trailers

    before you answer these settings
I have a screenplay 4805 projector and I want these trailers to be able to play on it and on any television that I take the discs to , in other words I dont want the picture to look right on the projector but look squished or oblonged on someones 4:3 tv

when i run the hd 1080 p video through tmpnec express the first selections I can choose are

    1.video mode ?
Do I want progressive or interlace

    2.aspect ratio
teh default is 1:1 pixel, but there are several choices, which is the best choice ?

    3. Frame rate
right now its set to default which is 23.976

    4. video bitrate
right now its set on default which is 9198
is this as high as dvd allows or can I up it any ?

    5. audio bitrate is set to 192 can it be any higher or is it where it needs to be '

    6.video mode ,
its selected to be 3:2 pull down , or there is the options
interlace or progressive which of these do I want

7.what do i need DC compnent precision to be

8.motion precision is set on standard, does it need to be a different selection

thanks please helpt as I CAN FINALLY get these trailers on dvd , but before i DO ANOTHER ONE I want to make sure to have the best settings that I can have

    1. Progressive
    2. 16:9
    3. 23.976
    4. Don't go higher
    5. 192 - 224 is fine for 2 channel. 384 or 448 for 5.1
    6. for progressive source leave it progressive. For 23.976 apply pulldown.
    7. What's the scale ? In CCE terms it would be 9 or 10 for that bitrate
    8. The higher you go, the slower it encodes. For your source, standard is probably OK.

They should be the same unless one is a 1:1 16:9. For DVD authoring, using NTSC 16:9.

If you have set Progressive int he video mode, use pulldown 3:2.

I don't know the software you are using, so I don't know the options it has or how they are laid out. But for 23.976 you must apply pulldown for authoring and NTSC TV playback

yeah the progrms im using are tmpgnec express and then using dvd author tmpgnc 1.6

so far ive just used the 1:1 pixel maping , and both trailers look good.

I havent changted it to 16x9 when I do it makes it bigger in the preview picture and makes it look like im loosing a little bit of the sides of my picture

If you are converting for DVD and use 1:1 as the target aspect ratio (not the source - it is 1:1) then you will distort the output.
