Dazzle problems

Hi all. looking for help.

I have a Dazzle DV80 vid capture box. It came with a copy of Pinnacle Studio V9.

I am finding that sometimes the audio capture just stops partway through (although I can still hear the audio through the pc speakers)

This is a pain. I have contacted Pinnacle and they gave me a step by step plan, but, no luck.

I now need to find another capturing program that will work with this Dazzle box. Any ideas?

(My PC is running XP SP2, 512 mb ram)

It could be a lot of things. First, try defragging your HD. Then boot up in safe mode and try to capture and see if that resolves the problem. Are you capturing via firewire, usb2.0, usb1.1? How much memory do you have? Do you have two HD's (one for software, and one for data)? Have you tried capturing with another software (virtualvcr, huffyuv, etc...)? If nothing else, you can capture with two passes. One pass to capture video, then another to capture audio.

I am HIGHLY skeptical of Dazzle's new products. I believe that they are all USB based. Dazzle made a great little product, the DVC-II. It was PCI based and worked like a champ and if you had any problems for it, the http://www.spawns.dk site probably had a fix for it. It hasn't been made for years, which is a real shame. I'm highly skeptical of any USB approach to video capturing. I ended up moving to the Hauppauge PVR-350 which is PCI based and I think it's the best video capture card/TV card I've ever owned.

Maybe you can search for a Dazzle specific forum. In the past, Dazzle's tech support was basically non-existent, but people on various forums were often able to help with a variety of problems with Dazzle's equipment.
