I am kind of what you would call a newbie at this movie burning/ripping thing. I have these great movies on my computer they are in AVI format using the 3ivx codec, they are several peices and I wanna convert and merge them using Avone Video Converter...How do I set up the Xvid to give me the best quality but still good compression so I can use DVD Santa to convert it over to DVD format and burn it to a 4.7GB DVD-R...I wish I would of used the Xvid codec to start with, cause I have 45 movies on my computer and each one is about 3GBs ....but o well...any help would be great!!! And yes the movies are legal

Don't do it would be my suggestion.

The more you transcode (move from one codec to another) the more quality you will lose. XVID is a codec, and the result will be another AVI, no net gain other than maybe saving some disk space, which you dont' seem to be short on.
