  1. How do you change a project from Non-Drop to Drop? and vise-versa?

Project 1: I batch capture fine with my DVC-Pro deck.

Project 2: A Drop frame tape was inserted, a Non-Drop frame was expected.

I assume I need to switch the drop frame settings.

    Help!

  2. Hi-

How do you change a project from Non-Drop to Drop?

Apply Pulldown again, this time with -drop_frame true added. Or if using a GUI, check the appropriate box.

    and vise-versa?

It's "vice versa". Apply Pulldown again, this time with -drop_frame false added. Or if using a GUI, check the appropriate box.

That's how you do it in software. I have no idea what you're using.

  3. Opps, I'm sorry, I should have put AVID in the post instead of the Title.

You have to insert a tape and Add New Tape to the capture tool (adding a new tape resets to default settings of Non-Drop.)

And in your time code in the Bin, ; means Drop Frames and : means Non-Drop.

This deck is very strange ... its a Panasonic DVCPRO AJ-D230HP with firewire support.

  4. My fault. I read AVID in the title, and then promptly forgot about it.

I don't know anything about hardware methods. Sounds like a job for edDV, the site expert on such things. If he (or someone else experienced with AVID) doesn't see this thread, why don't you PM him and ask him to have a look.

Drop frame and Non-Drop frame affects only timecode not the actual video.

Not many AVID high level users here. Best to try an AVID specific forum. If you don't have one, DMN forums index is a good place to start.

  6. Its cool, I knew that Drop and Non-Drop had nothing to do with the video.

I've used AVID for over a year, and I feel like I know only 25% of AVID.

All this time, I'd been using a transcoder (suck) and I just received my new digital deck a week ago. Our other two producers said they couldn't get Batch capture to work with XPress Pro because it asked for a Non-Drop tape.

Took me all of today to finally figure it out.

I will look at this site! I appreciate all of your help!!!
