    Could some1 pls help me with this, just formatted hdd and installed all av codecs, but when trying to open and play the file - it say "file unsupported......."???? But AVI Codec say it is supported.

    OS - XP pro sp2
    AV codecs - divx, xvid, ogg, ffdshow.

    The pc was working perfectly before with all the same codecs installed, but I have fitted a new dvdrom drive. Could it be the dvdrom drive?

    Check the file with avicodec or gspot and see what it says about the file...it will also tell you which installed codec(s) will play it.

    You may have a corrupt codec or bad file association.
