I've been seeing these, sometimes near the checkout counter:
Videoguard (already part of the blank dvd's manufacture). {*}
d_Skins -- applied after the fact.
Do these work ? Are they worth bothering with ?
{* I found a pkg. of Maxell CD-Pro, with "triple coated scratch resistance", which I must have purchased well over a year ago. Same idea, I guess. It was still unopened.}

The only problem with D-skins I've heard is that some players can't read through them very well. You would have to be careful to apply them without getting any bubbles. I also wonder how they work in a hot DVD player, if they might de-laminate?

The D-skins clip on, they are not permanent. Bubbles do not seem to be a problem. Have used them on a couple movies and Playstation2 games, PS2 game left in unit for some hours, presumably got quite hot. No problems so far.
Have not tried burning through one yet. -
The manufacturer says to not attempt to burn a disc with the D-skins on.

Maxell CD-Pro are simply Taiyo Yuden CD-R's so I don't see how they could have any better scratch protection than standard CD's. I have some Maxell CD-Pro and they seem the same as all TY discs, just cost more!
