HELP new to VCD/SVCD

I have read through the bits on creating a VCD but still can not do it.
I have TMPGE and convert my avi or mpeg video to mpeg for VCD.
I the use EasyVCD to create the rest? and save it in a temp file as I can not use EasyVCD to burn (I have a Freecom TravelerII USB).
I then use WinXP to burn to CD but get ERROR on my DVD player which will play VCD/CD-R/CD-RW.
Please help I don't understand this process.
I even converted the video.cue file with VCDGearGUI but to no avail... :o

personally i'd recomend you take the mpeg and burn it with nero as a vcd.
