I have just converted an svcd to dvd using svcd2dvd on default settings. Everything is fine on my pc using windows media player or powerDVD.
Problem arises when playing through my standalone toshiba dvd and toshiba tv. The picture is shown with half a picture tagged alongside whatever aspect ratio I use or whatever changes I make in the DVD player or tv menu.
I have tried again using altering a few settings in svcd2dvd such as forcing widescreen but I end up with the same thing only the aspect ratio on the tv changes every few frames.
Best I have managed so far is to zoom to the whole picture via dvd menu.
Any help apreciated, more details available if you ask me what will help you diagnose.

It just your DVD player which can't playback DVD's created with SVCD resolution correctly. (480x480/576).
It no fault of the DVD player because that resolution is NOT conform the DVD specifications.
I have the same with my old Pioneer, it will show a half/squashed picture when playing back a DVD with SVCD format on it.
