Ulead DVD Workshop 2 -- subtitle trouble

Hello, everyone. I am currently undergoing a problem with my Ulead DVD Workshop 2 software. I am trying to add subtitles to a 700MB .avi movie file with this software, but while previewing the movie after I add the subtitles, the subtitles seem to be out of sync. They simply appear too fast. The original subtitle file format is .sub, so I used Subtitle Workshop to convert my .sub subtitle file to a compatible Ulead DVD Workshop 2 txt subtitle file. Also in doing so, I added a 5 second delay (since the subtitles appear 5 seconds too fast), but regardless of the minor adjustment, Ulead DVD Workshop 2 continues to show the subtitles 5 seconds fast. (Ex. The first subtitle is supposed to begin at 25 seconds into the movie, but always starts at 21 seconds into the movie). No matter what I do the software stubbornly always does this. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Thanks for reading.

When you converted to .txt in Subtitle Workshop, did you match the fps of your video?
