I don't want to start a new thread , so i will ask it here and it will be useful for you and me . Who have the pinancle Av/DV ?
it seems good :
- Have the same chip than Canopus ADVC 50 , Philips SAA.... for Analog ->DIGITAL
- Can capture from analog using DV and MJPEG codec
- Full support nowdays
- Compatible with S.L
- Cheap
- Easy to find
I don't know if it have a audio input ...
What i like is the MJPEG , it is like the DC30 but i haven't the zoran chip.
Also i have tried to find a decent review in Google without success
What i want to know .....
- Dv and mjpeg is in realtime? (if it works with S.L , it must be ..)
- It have an audio input?
- Normally have A/v sync problems or tendency to drop frames?
- The drivers is WDM , VFW?
- Picture quality? is the same than the source? (that is what i want)
- I don't want to think that the MJPEG capture is a DV->MJPEG conversion
- Works with 4:2:0 and 4:1:1?
Thanks!

LSI CHIP!
I think that it is an older model... maybe 8 deluxe..
New av/dv 9 :
-
I have the Pinnacle Studio AV/DV board, w/ ver 9 software.
(I don't use the software)
Mine is the Pinacle GmbH, (i) made in Germany board, with
the SAA7113h and ADV7179 chip, using the Pinnacle stamp
on the biggist chip (there are 3 chips only, on this board)
On my board, I think the revision number is 0407 in white.
This board is Analog only, and captures that way.. the best
way
It has three feature connections..
* Composite
* S-Video and
* DV (6 pin)
The capture is pure analog. Anything that is captured, can be
real-time encoded to other formats, pending codec availability.
That means, if you have a DV codec (encoder) you can capture
in real-time, to DV.
The reason it says, AD/DV is on account that it can accept
both Analog and Digital sources.
But, it will output to DV (ie, to your CAM in dv format)
For DV, you connect your DV CAM 's 4-pin plug to the CAM, and
the other end, 6-pin to the board. (This would be equivalent
to the iLO 's DV in) You plug you CAM into the 6-in of the board
and it will capture it in Analog format, not DV avi. That is
probably what you are thinking. It's purely an Analog capture
card.
But, I have not been able to get it to work, because it is
WIN 98SE minimum system requirements, and I'm on WIN98Gold
(I usually refer to it as Win98x) so, it sits on the shelf,
rotting way.. unless I can figure out how to get it to work
under win98x
That's about all I know, of the AV/DV board.

Win98Gold...
vhelp, you must be the only person I know with this windows version....
I use W2K GR myself (and see no reason to "upgrade") -

no , dv only
- It have an audio input?
deluxe vesion only
- Normally have A/v sync problems or tendency to drop frames?
?
- The drivers is WDM , VFW?
WDM , you can capture with VirtualVCR. I don't know if you can capture with virtualdub..
- Picture quality? is the same than the source? (that is what i want)
?
- I don't want to think that the MJPEG capture is a DV->MJPEG conversion
No , it isn't
- Works with 4:2:0 and 4:1:1?
Both
- Capture Pal60 signals?
