  1. I've been playing with vegas and it's a great prog. however, i feel limited. I want to add animation to my video. what i want to do is like in the tv show "blindate." Like adding thought air bubbles and laser beam. Some1 suggested editstudio and i just dl the trial and i don't really like the feel of the prog. are there any other prog out there?

also i want to do something like this here

Maya is the pro standard and individuals can download free copies (Retail>$1K) and are linked to tutorials.

SGI-Maya, like the Marines, needs a few good men-woman to train themselves to operate this software.

Once you get up to speed, a career awaits.

  3. You know what? While I was watching "Blind Date", I wondered about the same thing. All those bubles, animated comments, and stuff. How'd they do it?

I don't know anything about Maya. As far as I know, those stuff can be done with Flash. Advanced knowledge required, of course. I think I can do some of the simple stuff with my limited Flash knowledge. The other stuff really requires technical knowledge and some artistic talent.

That's just my take from a Flash perspective....

  4. hmm, flash. i haven't used that for awhile. the last time i used that was for my website when i need to do buttons. it was pretty simple stuff however. blinddate stuff looks extremely difficult. i'll have to open up flash again and play around with it.

  5. With ActionScript, Flash is mightily powerful. Go to some flash sites and see the amazing stuff power users come up with.

Haven't seen the show but if it's just a simple thought bubble you can easily make that using just a simple image that supports transparent backgrounds. I just happen to have one right here you can paly around with, took me all of 2 seconds to make it. :

    bubble.tga

I don't know Vegas but you should be able to manipulate the size and overall transparency etc using it as an overlay. Images like these can be made in just about any image editing application.

As far as animation I use cool 3-D, it can ouput a sequence of images like this or a AVI. There;s lot's it can do. I'd look into what edDV suggested as it's probavbly more powerful and if it's free all the better.

  8. Lightwave is what you want for animation. You can then use Flash if interactivity is needed.

    As Vegas is to AVID.

  10. hi,
I've seen Blind date, you dont need 3D modeling software to do that, it cost a lot of money plus it take ages to learn it.
The Blind date thing effects are just basic video overlay, as the Coalman said you can pretty do this thing with an image editor like Photoshop and importing it to Vegas where you can manipulate its size, placement n movement by keyframing, for more realistic bubble, laser effects, you can get a particle generator program like Wondertouch particle illusion, it can simulate bubble, laser, fire, explosion you name it.
For more fun with your videos get tittle, compositing or video effects plug-ins for Vegas, i reallly like the ones from BorisFx...link here> http://www.borisfx.com/

    hope that helps.
