I'm using DVDInfoPro to detect a bad write, after writing my backup. I'm using the PI/PIF functions but I don't understand what the resulting graph is saying to me. I've looked everywhere to understand what the values of PIE & PIF mean in the resulting graph but can't find an answer.

Those kinds of tests mean less than Nero CD-DVD Speed surface tests (bad blocks), or visual "does it play in the player" tests.

If you want to test whether the disc is readable, click on the icon with the little magnifying glass. That scans the disk for unrecoverable errors. No matter what the PI/PO or other results, if you get all "green" for the scan the disc is fine, at least in the player you tested it in.
