  1. I tried to author VCD MPEG1 video as DVD using DVDMaestro and resulting video is fine except playback problem (I tested playback on PowerDVD) in a botom part of screen - approx 1/3 of picture occasionally jitter during playback. Original VCD and MPG files used to author DVD are fine.

I also tried with Scenarist but it didn't want to open MPEG1 files at all...

Any ideas why this is happening?

was it the same format (i.e. NTSC mpeg-1 for NTSC DVD, or PAL mpeg-1 for PAL DVD)?

Was the video re-encoded, or was the source video used "asis"? Audio would have to be encoded to 48khz.

  3. It is standarf PAL VCD - MPEG1 352x288. I Re-encoded audio in standard AC3 (48Khz 224bps) . Maybe that is problem? Maybe audio need to stay MP2?

Or DVDMaestro cant do this propperly?

I noticed that resultling IFO has info that video inside VOB is MPEG2 encoded instead MPEG1... I don't know how IFO need to look after this so I suspected that there is a problem and I changed that using IFOEdit but probem with playback is still present...

  4. Hi arminio,

Authoring a DVD with mpeg1 VCD with either dvdmaestro or spruceup causes playback problems on some dvd players. The best solution is in my oppinion to use another DVD authoring app and you can use scenarist because scenarist doesn't have this problem when authoring a DVD with mpeg1 VCD.

  5. As I said, I already tried Scenarist but it refuse to open MPEG1 video - he reports some problems in GOPs but video is fine and wihout any problems and can be imported in DVDMaestro. I just ried ULeadDVDWorkshop where I finally successfully made DVD out of VCD! But Ulead is pretty user-unfriendly and very limited in some features that I want to make and what Maestro and Scenarist can do...

Any idea why Scenarist won't open MPEG1?
