I always rip from DVD's using DVD Decrypter and rip in file mode.I then remove certains parts of the DVD movie with Nero Recode and then encode in order for the the DVD files to fit onto a single layer DVD+R.
Now the question is,would it be better to rip as an .nrg Image file or just as DVD Video files onto my hard drive?because some people I have heard, mention that recoding to an image file is better and more compatible with DVD Players.
Which is the better option?Does it really make any difference?
Thanks.

It makes no difference whatsoever. The Image file is just the DVD Video files (IFOs, BUPs and VOBs) inside the VIDEO_TS directory and with a blank AUDIO_TS directory next to it, which is exactly what you'd get if you chose DVD Video to your hard drive.
If in doubt, Google it. -
Thanks for the reply.
OK,so I will stick with ripping and burning with the DVD Video files option.
What I dont quite understand though is why do programs like DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink,Nero Recode ect...give you the option to make an Image file, when it is no different to ripping using the DVD Video files option and has no benefits. Why did the ISO,NRG ect.. Image file option get invented?
Off the subject I know but when ripping CD's with EAC I always rip as an Image file with cue sheet because that way you get an exact copy, with the exact pauses inbetween tracks,so I know why that method was introduced. -
It is much easier / Noob-Friendly to make image files because the image file contains information such as the template and settings your burning software should use to burn the files, whereas the DVD Video files option requires you, the end user, to know what template and settings to use and choose them yourself.
Also, it is much more convenient to move 1 file around (be it upload, download, storage or whatever) than folders with many files in them.If in doubt, Google it. -
However, image files are restricted when the dvd needs editing. For example, stripping out FBI warnings using titlesetblanker.
