MMC 7.5 & Mpeg2 - video skipps

I am trying to find out the following,
I have tried to capture into Mpeg2 using the 7.5 MMC but after one minute recording I decided to see how it is doing, well the video was jumping like it has dropped 5 out of 10 frames.
When I did the same thing in Mpeg1 it was fine,
any ideas why it would be like this?

Please tell what resolution you want? did you install directx8.1? I have posted a simular message yesterday "I can´t capture MPEG2....." read this...I can e-mail you the "how to" file I have made - if you want

I am running Windows XP Pro so I am running DirectX 8.1

Resolution can be 320X240 or 352X240 or 640X480 (it really does not matter, I am capturing episodes of a show)

Hi there!
I don't think you're gonna solve your frame drops problem with your 800MHz machine. Mine's a 950 MHz and I face the same problem with high resolutions (can get <1 frames dropped with 480x480, 2.4 though).



I'm waiting for my upgrade to arrive (1.4 GHz) to see if it gets better.

Also, don't use your system HD for the capture. You'll have to have a second HD just for the video capturing.

How to capture a good quailty VCD with All-In-Wonder-Radeon

I have been working with the All-In-Wonder-Radeon card for a while now and I have tried to capture VCD directly with the TV-Tool and the results are far from what I expected when I bought the card, so for a while I didn´t really use it. Then I was playing around ripping some DVD and now I have found a way to create good looking VCD´s. But the bad thing is all the converting, but I think its worth the trouble...

Tested on:

ASUS CUSL2-C PIII with a 800MHZ, 133 processor with 256MB RAM and a 40 GB HD.

With these settings the program doesnt drop frames, but I could imagine with a faster CPU it would be possible to go to a higher resolution.

Set virtual memory (controlpanel/system/advanced performance settings) to 768 each HD you use..

(When done with capture use AVI2MPG to convert the .mp2 file into a m2v and a soundfile.)

Just open the AVI2MPG and Load the .mp2 file, then press OK, then save project. (Dont play with any settings)

When this is done (6 mins for a 2 hr file on my comp.)

Then open TmpEnc.2.5 and insert the 2 files and use VCD as output.

This way I get a better quality VCD than with the VCD capture option in Ati´s Tv-Tool.
