  1. For years I've used VideoRedo to edit my MPEG2 captures from my PC tuner cards. I only want to get rid of commercials. Now that I have an HDTV tuner, I have a problem. I just tried it with VideoRedo and it didn't work because it can't edit (cut) Dolby Digital audio.

Is there a program out there that is as reliable and easy as VideoRedo, but works with AC3 audio and can cut that too? The idea is to simply save the new file with my cuts out, without recompressing any video or audio if possible.

If there is a commercial product which makes this easy, please mention that too.

    Thanks!

MpegStreamclip or AviDemux should do it fine.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

Videoredo supports ac3 and can cut it. What version are you using?

  5. AVIDemux seemed to work until I saved the file, then it flashed the process for 1 second and exited. I ended up with a 6MB file of the first 5 seconds or so. Since it was an HDTV capture, I would not be surprised if there were some errors in it that I can't detect upon viewing. (that's my layman's guess). Is it possible that AVIDemux is croaking on those? Any other way to make sure it can continue with the process?

You've got a file with some corruption in it. Fortunately, there are many tools that can address this. Mpeg2Repair works quite well at fixing the file (usually).
